Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) March 15, 2010

HDcctv Alliance®, the global security industry consortium established to manage and promote technical standards for HDcctv™ equipment interoperability, announced today that five new members – Analog Devices, Cop UK, Pacific Corporation, UFINE and Win4Net – have joined the Alliance. The Alliance is quickly growing its international membership with registration available at or at their Booth #42001, at ISC West, Las Vegas, March 24-26, where many HDcctv Alliance members will be demonstrating their products.

HDcctv-based systems transmit HDTV signals digitally over conventional CCTV media without packetization and without any perceivable compression latency. The HDcctv Alliance has partnered with SMPTE to reference the family of broadcast video interfaces known as HD-SDI to create a derivative standard to enable plug-and-play security systems and equipment that deliver high-resolution, high-definition (HD) surveillance video with no transmission delays, no image artifacts from transmission, with the highest possible signal integrity.

With new members joining from Japan, Korea, England, and the USA, the Alliance is expanding their already significant international presence and diverse array of security products, from component, OEM and branded equipment manufacturers to security sales, support and system installers.

New Alliance member Analog Devices, Inc (NYSE: ADI) is a multinational semiconductor company, headquartered in Norwood, Massachusetts, with design and manufacturing facilities throughout the world, specializing in data conversion and signal conditioning technology.

“Analog Devices is constantly evaluating emerging technologies such as HDcctv to determine alignment to our signal processing product capabilities. We are excited to join the Alliance as an actively contributing member and look forward to continuing the process of positioning our existing and potential new product developments for adoption within the burgeoning HDcctv application space,” said Michael Long, Analog Devices’ security segment manager.

Cop UK, based in North England, with offices in Taiwan, China, Scandinavia and the USA, have supplied and supported more than 2,000,000 products to the security industry in the UK with installations ranging from single-owner/manager companies to large corporations with national installation bases, with an annual turnover in the UK in excess of 10,000,000 USD.

“Cop UK believes the HDcctv Alliance represents a major step forward in meeting the ever-increasing demand for higher-quality, higher-resolution CCTV for our customer base that network camera solutions cannot fulfill,” said Chris Bentley, CEO Cop UK. “Many of our customers have no networking background and consider network cameras as belonging to the ‘big installers club’: too expensive and complicated to install. HDcctv is the logical way forward for small installations that represents a large proportion of the total UK CCTV installation base and fits our customer base perfectly.”

“HDcctv ideally suits our customers’ requirements for quality and ease of installation, at an affordable price point. Our plan is to be selling Cop UK HDcctv products in the UK by the end of 2010 that will include our own brand cameras and embedded DVRs currently under development. We will also be launching a small range of ancillary items like repeaters to provide our customers with a one-stop solution for HDcctv,” Chris added.

Pacific Corporation is the first Japanese company to join the HDcctv Alliance and will demonstrate a 1080p30 auto-focus 18x-zoom camera built to meet HDcctv v1.0 specifications in their ISC West Booth #42003.

“By joining the HDcctv Alliance we gain the ability to collaborate with and share the resources of many companies that have the same goal of bringing the highest quality HD video to the main stream CCTV market,” said Isao Omata, director of sales, Pacific Corporation. “We can seamlessly work with HDcctv members and component manufacturers to ensure our products meet high performance standards and are interoperable, like our HDcctv zoom camera we will be demonstrating at ISC West which incorporates HDcctv Alliance member AltaSens’ wide dynamic range image sensor.”

Win4NET, Ltd, headquartered in Seoul, Korea, manufactures a diverse array of security products including DVR’s, HVR’s, NVR’s, network software solutions, video servers and auxiliary products that include speed dome cameras, storage boxes, housing and bracket, and system equipment. The Trium Security brand, established in 2007 as a separate business entity of Win4NET, Ltd., stands apart as an experienced, professional brand name in the North American security industry and will be exhibiting at ISC West in Booth #23097.

“Joining the HDcctv Alliance is in line with our goals to build a new business foundation based on new products that match the customer’s need, combined with extensive promotional campaigns and increased sales,” said Chris Wembridge, Win4NET Sales Manager. “HDcctv and Win4NET principles are consistent: that surveillance and physical security products should be reliable, cost effective, and readily integrated into new, or concurrently with, existing installations and procedures.”

UFINE Logics & Chips Co., Ltd., located in Gyeonggi-do, Korea, just released a single-chip image signal processor (ISP) optimized for high-resolution applications including HDcctv cameras. UFINE’s ISP chip includes HDcctv interface logic and can process 1080p30 images while implementing such functions as wide dynamic range (WDR), 3D DNR, 3A (AE, AWB, AF), OSD, motion detection, digital zooming and more. Unique functions can easily be added by firmware inside the microcontroller unit (MCU) embedded in the chip.

“We believe that joining the HDcctv Alliance provides a good opportunity for UFINE and our customers, who are CCTV camera manufacturers developing HDcctv cameras,” said Chang-Hyun, Nam, vice president, UFINE Logics & Chips Co., Ltd. “By implementing HDcctv features in the ISP, UFINE makes it easy for our customers to develop cost-effective HDcctv cameras. Together with our customer partners, we intend to contribute to HDcctv market expansion as an active member of HDcctv Alliance.”

Visit the HDcctv Alliance at ISC West, Las Vegas, Booth 42001, March 24-26 and attend the ISC West session panel entitled “High Definition Surveillance: A Clearer Picture” with Todd Rockoff, executive director, HDcctv Alliance, and moderated by Scott Goldfine, editor-in-chief, Security Sales & Integration Magazine, Wednesday, March 24, 2010, 4:00 p.m., in rooms AD04/CS04.

Visit HDcctv Alliance members’ booths at ISC West to fill out a raffle card and qualify to win one of 11 prizes including an HDcctv camera grand prize, two iPads, three valuable art pieces, and five blueCaps coax terminator kits.

Todd Rockoff will also represent the HDcctv Alliance in the panel discussion “Video Surveillance 2.0: HD Standards and Challenges” with PSIA and ONVIF at SecuTech, Taipei, Taiwan, April 22, 1:30 p.m.

Elk Grove Village, IL (PRWEB) November 13, 2008

Ascender Corporation, a leading provider of advanced font products and innovative applications for mobile devices, today announced DigiType Compact Asian version 2.0 – a new font format and technology specifically for Chinese, Japanese and Korean (CJK) scripts displayed on consumer electronics and mobile devices. DigiType Compact Asian version 2.0 was developed by DynaComware, a leading developer of Asian fonts, and Ascender Corp, a leading type design and font engineering company. The two companies have worked together to improve the screen quality of East Asian fonts with significantly reduced memory requirements.

DigiType Compact Asian is targeted at any device that requires display of East Asian fonts, but with a small memory footprint. This includes mobile phones, PDAs, digital TVs, set-top boxes, game consoles, GPS units and a variety of consumer electronics devices. Many of these devices currently use bitmap fonts which are limited to one size and style per font file. DigiType Compact Asian is based on scalable font technology, which offers a wide variety of benefits including the ability to enhance User Interfaces with numerous font sizes and styles.

The DigiType Compact Asian solution has been enabled on the platforms such as Linux and Windows CE, and is available to developers seeking to reduce the file size of Asian fonts while still providing excellent screen legibility and performance on mobile handsets and consumer electronics devices.

“We are extremely pleased to say that we’ve hit the “sweet spot” of quality, file size and speed for Asian fonts embedded into electronic devices” said Brian Kraimer, Vice President of Ascender Corporation.

“By combining DynaComware’s vast experience in Asian font technology with Ascender’s expertise with TrueType hinting, DigiType Compact Asian version 2.0 introduces a major improvement for manufacturers seeking high quality Asian fonts with a small footprint.” said Ann Lee, Director of Marketing for DynaComware.

DigiType Compact Asian uses proprietary techniques to render the complex ideographs found in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean scripts. By using component outlines, versus entire character outlines, DigiType Compact Asian offers significant benefits over standard TrueType or OpenType font formats. And unlike other compact font formats, the quality of DigiType Compact Asian is such that no embedded bitmaps are necessary for typical screen sizes.

A variety of font styles including Hei, Sung and Kai are available for DigiType Compact Asian and a variety of character sets are supported including GB18030. The file size savings for DigiType Compact Asian are significant. For example a Hei style font with GB2312 support has a 4.2MB file size in TrueType format, and is only 750KB in the DigiType Compact Asian Format, a savings of over 82%.

DigiType Compact Asian version 2.0 introduces advanced hinting which enables stroke reduction at small sizes to improve the quality on screen while maintaining the integrity and meaning of East Asian characters. This allows fonts to look superior at both small sizes down to 12 PPEM (Points Per Em) and at larger sizes.

Mobile devices with CJK fonts can achieve significant benefits by utilizing DigiType Compact Asian fonts:

Dramatically reduced font file sizes (up to 85% savings)
Better screen quality at small sizes and when scaled to large sizes compared to alternative solutions in the market
Flexibility to display fonts at any size from a single master font file
A wide variety of typefaces and font styles to choose from
Ability to tune quality for different screen resolutions and characteristics
A variety of special effects from a basic font
Lower costs for integration and support across multiple platforms

DigiType Compact Asian leverages industry standard APIs to provide a modular approach for ease of implementation, including support for the FreeType font engine (the DigiType SDK is available as a FreeType plug-in). DigiType Compact Asian can be implemented in a variety of operating systems popular in today’s mobile, consumer and embedded system devices including Android, Linux, Symbian, WinCE and others.

DigiType Compact Asian is offered by both DynaComware in the Asian market and Ascender Corporation in United States and Europe. For more information on DigiType Compact Asian, or to request an SDK, please contact either DynaComware or Ascender.
