Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel & Conference Center Renovates Ballroom

River Rd., has taken another step toward total transformation with the opening earlier this month of the remodeled O’Hare International Ballroom. The 23,500-square-foot ballroom – one of the largest column-free rooms in the O’Hare area – has new high-end décor with state-of-the-art LED chandeliers and finishes mirroring the property’s recently renovated guest rooms and suites. More than 4,000 square feet of pre-function space has been added adjacent to the ballroom for staging registrations, pre-meal receptions (capacity: 400), dessert buffets, small-scale trade shows and similar events.

For maximum sound coverage, both the ballroom and the pre-function space have been equipped with a new 60-speaker sound system. Throughout, a new Lutron lighting system creates energy efficient, digitally controlled ambiance.

“We’ve gotten lots of compliments on the décor, with its elegant yet approachable look. The room’s new raised ceiling height gives it an overall spacious appearance, yet there’s an intimate feel,” said Connolly.

She explained that event planners appreciate the fact that the ballroom can be divided into as many as five separate spaces. “For example, you can simultaneously conduct a general session in one room, a trade show in another, and still have up to three spaces available for break-out sessions.”

The combined ballroom space can accommodate receptions for up to 3,800, sit-down meals for up to 2,300 and theater-style seating for up to 3,000. When divided, each smaller room can handle around 30 6-foot trade show booths or classroom-style seating for about 250.

The Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare’s dedicated meeting managers oversee all event details with services that include a two-hour response to RFP guarantee and daily meetings debriefs.

With its prime location just 1.5 miles from O’Hare International Airport, across from the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, and adjacent to the Rosemont Theater, the hotel regularly hosts training sessions, conferences and trade shows in many industries, as well as religious gatherings, self-help seminars, dance competitions and, of course, weddings.

The hotel recently renovated all 503 guest rooms and suites, adding handcrafted custom furniture plus amenities including a refrigerator, in-room safe that accommodates a laptop computer, cordless telephone, 32-inch flat-screen HD television, wireless high-speed internet access and Roomlinx interactive entertainment solution.
